Term 1 - Week 7

Dear Parents and Carers,

It is wonderful to have parents back on campus. We have new seating outside our Canteen for you to utilise in the mornings! Thank you for joining us for Assembly today. We inducted our Student Leaders and also announced the winners of the Rainy Day Art Competition.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS

If you are looking to volunteer your time helping in the classrooms, (e.g reading, coaching a team, helping with a club etc), you would need to meet the vaccination requirements. This includes any parent volunteer hours logged for P&F hours. We ask all volunteers to ensure that our HR Officer, Lena McDowell has a record of your vaccination status. Please contact Lena,  lena.mcdowell@calvarycc.qld.edu.au to do this.

Any parents intending to volunteer more than seven times are also required to apply for a Volunteer Blue Card.  It is free to apply for here. When you apply, you will be asked to provide a reference number to the College in order to complete your application.  Please submit this reference number and your date of birth to our HR Officer, Lena McDowell at lena.mcdowell@calvarycc.qld.edu.au

CAMPS UPDATE

If you have children in Years 4-6, they will be very excited about our Camp program this year.

Year 4 Camp

Year 4 Camp is Thursday 21-22 April.

The Year 4 Camp to Thunderbird Park, Mount Tambourine is on schedule. It is a great introduction to Calvary’s camping program. This is a one-night camp away from home.  It involves many team and resilience building activities.

Year 4 Camp Forms Here

Year 5 Camp

Parents of Year 5 children have been notified that the Year 5 Camp to Lake Ainsworth has been postponed to a date in Term 3. We will confirm as soon as things are locked in.

Year 6 Camp

Year 6 Canberra trip is on track for April 26 -29. We will be presenting an information video on this via Stage and Camp Facebook groups by Friday 18 March, and following this, will host a zoom Question and Answer session for Yr 6 parents on Tuesday 22 March at 6:30pm.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP

This week, we inducted our 2022 Year 6 leaders and captains. Leading our Chapel and Assembly services is one of the many rights of passage for Year 6.

With the new leadership structure, students in Years 3-6 can apply for College Leader. Any students in Years 3 – 6 who have shown that they lead by improving the lives of others at the College through continuous and ongoing service, can apply to be a College Leader.

Applications for College Leadership can be made in Term 1 and Term 2 through a letter to the Head of School. The presentation and announcement of this responsibility will happen twice a year. Once at the end of Term 1 and again at the end of Term 2.  Applications close for Term One on Thursday 17th March 2022.

PRINCIPAL TOURS

Both campuses are running Principal Tours next week. If you have family friends who are showing interest in Calvary, feel free to invite them to the Carbrook tour Tuesday 15 March, or Springwood your Wednesday 16 March.

A reminder that our Prep 2023 spaces are filling up. If you have little ones for Prep next year, please book in an interview time through our Enrolments Officer;

LOST PROPERTY

The Lost Property for Junior School is now located in the Stage 3 Plaza. This is the Year 5 and 6 Learning Space. Our Prefects will take on the responsibility of delivering named lost property back to their owner each Friday. Please make sure you name all of your belongings clearly so that we can get them back to you when they go missing.

PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Our Parent Teacher Interviews are on the 22 and 24 March. Bookings for interviews will open on Monday. Instructions on how to book will come out from our Admin Team.
