Springwood Junior School Communications, 3 Mar 2022

Term 1 - Week 6

Dear Parents and Carers,

Following our Principal/CEO communication today, Springwood campus will remain open tomorrow. However, please be aware that there are ongoing road closures, and continued bad weather predicted for tomorrow. Our whole community, including our staff, have been impacted by the ongoing weather event. Therefore, if you have any concerns at all for your safety on the roads to and  from school, please keep children at home. Should we have limited staffing, we will provide an alternative learning program for the students tomorrow.

Cross Country and Fun Run

Unfortunately, we have had to postpone our Cross Country event due to the state of the grounds at the moment. We have moved the Prep – Year 12 Cross Country and Fun Run to Wednesday 27 July. Promotion for the Fun Run fundraising will begin again closer to the event.

Photo Day

Tuesday 8 March is Photo Day for the Springwood Campus. The schedule is attached below. Siblings photos are being taken at The Hub from 8:00am and class photos following that. Although we had booked in for the traditional class group photos this year, due to student absentees with illness, we need to resort to the usual individual photos collated as a class. If your child is not able to attend school on photo day, we will be able to offer a catch-up day later in the term.

Year 6 Leadership Induction

This coming Wednesday will be our first Assembly back up at the church. We welcome parents to attend our Year 6 Leadership Induction Service. All Year 6 students will receive their badge, as well as our 2022 captains and prefects being reintroduced to the student body. It is exciting to be able to come together again for Assembly and Chapel services, 2:15pm at Real Life Christian Church.

Parent /Teacher Interviews

Below, you will find information to assist you in booking a time to meet with your child’s class teacher. These interviews are designed to create a space where teachers can share the learning progress of each child, set goals and partner with parents to support students to reach these goals. Parent Teacher Interviews will be held on campus or via zoom (on request), on Tuesday 22 March and Thursday 24 March.

Netball Bake Sale

A student initiative, our very excited Calvary netball teams are raising funds to provide an umpire for their carnival games. The girls have made posters, which have been placed all around the school. Students are encouraged to support their fundraising efforts by bringing a gold coin or more to purchase something on Wednesday 9 March.

We hold all those impacted by the floods in our thoughts and prayers. This community is certainly one that rallies together. We have a few student-driven incentives coming up to raise money for those families in need across Southeast Queensland. Please look out for these opportunities to give and support the broader community.
