Important P&F General meeting

Dear Parents and Carers

Have you been on our website recently? I had occasion to pop on last week to check something while I was on leave, and to my delight I found that the new look refreshed website is up and running. I would like to thank the Heads of School and Karen Baker (Community Engagement Officer) who worked so hard in recent weeks on the updated content. My thanks go to Phil Winton and his team from Expose Media for their design work and patience in working with us to ensure the information provided is accurate and the site is easy to navigate, whether you are using a smart phone or a computer screen! I would love you to make yourself a cuppa and take a moment to explore the website. We would welcome your feedback as we are working hard to make communication and access to information timely, relevant and accessible for you.

I am always surprised and concerned when I encounter members of our community who are not familiar with our distinctives (what makes Calvary special), our learning model (children learn by stage not age), the breadth of opportunities available to your children in both the curriculum (courses on offer) and co-curriculum (learning and adventures beyond the classroom). Calvary balances well the small community feel of a mid-sized school where we know each child well, and the provision of a wide variety of opportunity for student involvement in diverse learning and personal extension experiences. I am awed by the time and energy staff give to provision of special interest clubs, sport and performing arts to ensure we ‘grow the whole child’.

We are progressing well with the clean-up after the recent floods, and I can update you on our progress at the P&F meeting on Wednesday night. I encourage you to attend this significant meeting as our parent community considers the future of the P&F in its current form. Representatives of our P&F Executive will have the opportunity to address you and I will also provide an update on College matters as well as take your questions. It will be good to get together on Wednesday evening at 7pm at Real Life Christian Church, Dennis Road, Springwood.
