Term 1 - Week 4

Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you for ‘Zooming’ in last week or watching the Zoom recordings of our Parent Information Sessions. Despite some restrictions on us gathering together, we want to keep you as informed and up to date as possible. Recordings of these sessions can still be found on the individual Stage Facebook groups if you missed them on the night.

Covid Updates

Due to the current climate, from time to time, teachers and learning aides may be absent more than usual. This may be due to having COVID or being a close contact, resulting in needing to isolate for 7 days or more.  We assure you that we have relief staff and also support staff such as Mrs Claassen, Mrs Pauline Ball, Mrs Rebecca Damianopoulos, Mrs Carlee Johnston and myself who are available when, and if necessary, to step into spaces.

Below, you will find important information on our process for working with families as students become ill with flu like symptoms. If your child has COVID-19/cold and flu -like symptoms, we ask they remain at home until these symptoms subside, regardless of positive/negative status.

Clubs and Co-curricular

This week our clubs and co-curricular activities began. The diversity of options is designed to cater for student interest. Some favourites are back, including Chess Club, JAG, Robotics and Dance.

Our student leaders are promoting clubs to younger students, and we ask that you join us in encouraging your child/children to choose a club of interest to attend. Please see the Clubs Timetable below in the Clubs section of this communication.

Parking Before and After School

The turning circle is a busy space before and after school. For the safety of all students using the intercampus bus, we ask all parents refrain from parking in the Staff Carpark. This includes quick drop off/pick up for the bus or Outside Hours School Care.

Parents are asked to be waiting by 4pm to collect students using the inter-campus bus in the afternoon.

Social Emotional Wellbeing

As part of our Formation program, we will be raising awareness regarding; Positive Friendships in Term 1 and Bullying in Term 2. As the term progresses, you may hear the language of “Friendship Fires” and “Mean on Purpose”.  Friendship fires are disagreements children can solve themselves. Mean on Purpose are issues that need to be reported to teachers, learning aides, or parents.  We will send more information on the program as the term unfolds.

Volunteer Hours

To simplify the collection of volunteer hours, the College has developed an electronic form for parents to log their hours.  The form can be accessed via the below link and will be accessible on the new app under Parent Links from 21 February 2022.

 https://calvaryqld.csassurance.com/contracts/new?contract_template=29&token=uwcgH7GsxzoBpTwZDqh7

This form will replace the hard copy forms previously held in reception.  All hours will need to be submitted electronically to be tallied at the end of the year. Any families who volunteer 24 or more hours will be credited their P&F Levy for 2022.

You will receive a copy of each submission via email, which can be used to keep a tally of your total hours volunteered.  Should you require confirmation of your total hours, please contact HR@calvarycc.qld.edu.au

Chapel/Assemblies

Just a reminder that while regulations state we cannot have large gatherings onsite, the children are engaging in Stage-based Chapel and Assemblies on Wednesday afternoons. These are being held in the learning spaces. Although parents are unfortunately not yet able to join us, you are welcome to pick children up from outside the classroom, at the church or turning circle on Wednesday afternoons.

We are continually blessed by your support and encouragement.

Yours faithfully

Kim Winton

Netball @ Springwood

Team nominations are due by Friday so I urgently need players registered to nominate the amount of teams we will have this season.

If there is a reason you can’t register this week but you are definitely playing, then please contact me and I can take this into account with team nominations and structures.

We have two Netta and a Cadet team at Springwood and, with a few more Netta players, perhaps 3 Netta teams! Amazing!

To answer any training, playing Netball Club questions, and as a general introduction, there will be a Zoom meeting tonight, 7PM -Thursday 17 February. Please see link:

Training

Springwood teams will commence training next week. More details on this shortly.

Visors

I am currently working with a supplier on a great looking, functional visor for the players to wear. We should have these ready end of March, all going to plan at the manufacturers.

Visor Sponsors x2

There is space on the sides of the visors for TWO sponsors logos. This is a great opportunity to promote your business and help offset the cost of the visors. We are looking for TWO $500 sponsors. If you are interested, please contact me ASAP.

Many thanks for everyone’s support and passion for netball!
